December to March are best months to explore Varkala, In other months weather will be bit cool but it can rain anytime. So, better to avoid rainy season here.

How to Reach Varkala

By Air

Nearest Airport for Varkala is Trivandrum which is around 50 kms from Varkala. From airport you can get cab(cost 1500-2000 depends on negotiation) to reach Varkala.Check your flight from your city. Most of the major cities are connected with Trivandrum.

By Train

Varkala is well connected with railway, you can find good connectivity with in and from most of the States. Other than Varkala you can take train to kollam juntion which is around 25 km from Varakala. From Kollam you can take auto or cab which will cost you 600-1200 Rs.

By Road

From neighboring cities you can find the public transports for Varkala.

Note: Be careful if you don't know their native language while negotiating for auto or cab fares. Make sure they agreed at your price. 

 

Places to Visit

 Varkala:     

• North Cliff - North cliff and varkala beach are at same place. Most of the hotels are within 1 Km radius.

• South Cliff - Just like north cliff it has cliff and beach.
  
• Varkala Beach
  

• Black sand beach - From North cliff one can reach black sand beach easily. It is nearby only.
  

 

• Kapil Beach - Kapil beach has beach at one side and lake at another side which makes it unique.
  

 

 

 

• Edava Beach 
• Kaveri Elephant Park - Its kind a small zoo, one can enjoy elephant ride here.
  

 Kollam:  

• Jatayu Earth center - Jatayu Earth Center, also known as Jatayu Nature Park or Jatayu Rock, is a park and tourism centre at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district of Kerala. It stands at an altitude of 350m above the mean sea level. Jatayu Nature Park holds the distinction of having the world’s largest bird sculpture, which is of Jatayu.
