Here we are sharing our recent experience of Andaman and Nicobar trip, Everything that you need to plan your trip in simple steps:

1. Best time to visit:

    Best time to visit Andaman is November to February. 

    Note: Avoid rainy season

2. Flight/ Cruise Booking:

Flight:

    Flights are available from Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai.

    As per our experience you will get best deals from Kolkata.

Note : Try to take early flights so that you can utilize your travelling day also. 

Here are a glimpse of islands of andman from flight. 

Cruise:

    You can get it from Chennai and Kolkata. it will take around 3 days to reach Andaman.

    Note: You are going to use lot of ferries and cruises during your trip, so avoid this to reach Andaman.

3. Main Islands to Explore 

Port Blair ( Min. 2 days - Max. 3 days): You will start your journey from Port Blair. If you will reach before 2 PM then you can utilize same day to visit some places. 

     Places to visit: Cellular jail, Ross Island, Corbyn's cove beach,  Chidiya Taapu,  North Bay Island, Marina Park, Flag point, joggers park and Baratang cave

You can cover cellular jail, marina park, flag point and corbyn's cove beach in one day, Cellular jail is open till 4:30PM and Light show happens around 5:30 PM, So, plan your day accordingly

Ross island, North Bay Island and chidiya taapu can be covered in one day. 

Baratang cave is around 60KM from port blair, it will take your whole day. We had skipped this as we don't wanna spend whole day for just a cave.

Chidiya Tapu: 

Ross Island : You can reach here by ferry from port blair which will cost you around 350 ₹. Ferries which drop you on the island will give you 60 - 75 mins to explore the island. This is an historical place where you will finds ruins of old historical buildings of british ruling time. It was there luxury capital in back days. 

North Bay Island: You can reach here by ferry from port blair. Generally ferries provides tickets which includes both places Ross island and North Bay island. It will cost you around 740 ₹ for both islands. This island is famous for water activities like scuba dive, sea walk, parasailing, snorkeling. 

Havelock Island(Min. 2 days - Max. 3 days) : To reach here you have to take ferry/cruise from port blair. There are multiple options for ferries - private and government.

Ferry options : These are commonly used private ferries. 

• MAK Logistics(Makruzz) 
• Green Ocean Seaways(Green Ocean) 
• Sealink
• ITT Majestic
• Nautika

Note: Avoid Green ocean if you have motion sickness or if you are more prone to have sea sickness. 

Another option you have is for government ferries but these will not have that much good service. 

    Places to visit: Radhanagar Beach (Specifically for sunset and swimming), Kala patthar Beach (Mainly for sunrise), Elephant Beach( For water sports activities).

     Kala patthar beach: 

How to travel: Renting a scooty is the best option to travel within the island. It will cost you around (400-600)₹/ day. For 2-3 days you have to spend only 150-200₹ for petrol. 

Hotel/Resort: You can find many beach front resorts. You can prefer resorts in govind nagar from there jetty point and kala patthar beach are nearby.

    Note: There is a network problem in havelock. Here only airtel or bsnl sim works. Please carry cash as most of the payment for water activities will be done in cash. In havelock at most of the places like hotel and resorts they don't accept payment trough cards either by online transaction or by cash. 

Neil Island(Min. 1day - Max. 2 days): This is a very peaceful island to enjoy your vacation or spend time with your loved one. Water is more clear in neil. To reach here we have to take ferries either from port Blair(Incase you want to go Neil first) or from havelock (generally preferred). Same ferry options are available here also. 

    Places to visit: Lakshmanpur beach 2 ( Mainly for sunset), Sitapur beach(For sunrise), Bharatpur beach ( water sports and swimming), Natural bridge at lakshmanpur beach 1.

Bharatpur beach is famous for water activities. In neil water activities are bit costlier than havelock. Snorkeling you can try here as in elephant beach they do on the shore but in neil they do deep sea snorkeling. 

Note: Sitapur beach is good for photo session after sunrise as there is really less people on the beach. One can do shopping at bharatpur beach. 

4. Things you should carry: Sufficient cash, sunscreen with good amount of spf.

5. Things to do in Advance

• Please check with someone(or any agent) once before making any booking for Light show, Sometimes its unavailable because of maintenance and you might be confused between Ross Island and Cellular Jail Light show.
• You can book for Scuba in advance, for rest other activities you can book whenever required.
