In this blog we are sharing you our experiences to ooty trip which can help you to plan your trip.

About Ooty : Ooty is a popular hill station situated in Nilgiri Hills. Official name of ooty is Udhagamandalam. It is a beautiful hill station with lot of tea gardens situated in Tamilnadu. 

How to reach : There are plenty of options to travel if you are living in bangalore or nearby cities. Buses, cabs or own cars are direct options to reach there if you are residing nearby states. 

We went by flight so sharing same details. To reach by flight we have to take flight to coimbatore as it's the nearest airport. From the airport ooty is around 100 km which can be covered by cabs. 

We have one more option which is really good to enjoy beauty of hills that is toy train which operates from Mettupalayam railway station. 

One can take cab from coimbatore airport or coimbatore junction to Mettupalayam railway station. 

Note : Toy train takes more time to reach destination so you can just take it once either to reach ooty or to come back.

Places to visit : Pyakara waterfalls,  Pine forest, Tea gardens, Doddabetta, Tea factory and chocolate factory, Botanical garden,Wax museum, 6th mile, 9th mile, ooty lake

If you are planning for weekend trip you can skip tea garden and factory, botanical Garden, rose garden and wax museum instead of these go to canoor on next day and cover rest in one day. 

6th mile: It is also known as shooting place. A hill with really good views.

Ooty lake: Ooty lake is good if you want to do boating. otherwise its not that good.

Pine forest: As most of the places in ooty this is also has good view of hill with pine trees.

Doddabetta: It is the highest peak of Nilgiri. From there you can enjoy views of different places.

Tea garden: There are numerous tea gardens in ooty which have really good views.

9th mile: This is a pine forest having lake at downside.

Sightseeing packages:  

Auto charges 1200-1400 for one package.

Cabs will charge you 1800-2300  for same.

They offer different packages according to location. Generally they include places in one way in one package like pyakara waterfalls, Kamraj dam, 6th mile, 9th mile, pine forest will be one package.You can merge packages to cover all in one day and negotiate price.

Note: Carry some change as at all the places there will be tickets costing 10-30.Here homemade chocolates are really famous and good, so just give a try but buy from good shop which have various varieties.

Coonoor: Coonoor is nearby ooty and have better tea garden views(in my opinion). Here also you will fine some peaks and sightseeing places.

Sightseeing packages:  Most probably you will not get auto for this tour from ooty. So Cabs will charge same 1800-2300 for sightseeing.

Places to visit : SIM's park, Dolphin's nose, Tea gardens, Some view points.

SIM's Park: This is a beautiful park with numerous varieties of trees and plants. There is a Rudraksha tree in the park.

Dolphin's Nose : It is a peak from where you can have beautiful view. 

Tea Gardens: Mostly is wall the way you can find tea gardens, gardens near dolphin nose are quite with less people.
